Technology Awareness Series
For the 17th consecutive year, ACTS will host its 2003 Technical Awareness Series (TAS) to be held from May 5-9 in Hilton Head, SC. This intensive weeklong event is designed for IT technicians and managers at all levels, and those working in highly diversified IT environments. The goal is to improve one's overall technical fluency in numerous areas while managing both technology and technicians. The TAS conference takes a straightforward approach to explaining why some IT initiatives work, why so many others fail, and identifies the essential ingredients that contribute to both the successes and the failures. During the series, participants will candidly discuss the strengths and weaknesses of important technologies and technology vendors, going beyond the technology hype that is commonplace throughout the computer industry.
TAS will equip you to better understand the complexities of enterprise computing for years to come. The unique format of TAS allows you to learn from industry experts who have gained real-world experience working in the trenches with e-business, Linux, data warehouses (business intelligence), the Internet, Servers, enterprise networking, and storage management. The Multimedia Technical Awareness Series (MMTAS) is a computer-based training module that enables IT professionals to deal more effectively and confidently with the diversity and breadth of technology used in the enterprise-computing environment. The training is designed for newcomers to IT, as well as established IT professionals, wanting to reinforce or expand their knowledge base. The goal of the series is for participants to understand the purpose of a variety of technologies, the context in which each is used, and then be able to speak intelligently with co-workers and vendors about the technologies. The course is available 24-hours a day, 7 days a week, and takes approximately 6-10 hours to complete, depending on one's experience.
